How to know if you're an empath

Found this interesting article about Empaths...

How to Know if You're an Empath
Adapted from Dr. Judith Orloff’s New York Times Bestseller, “Emotional Freedom: Liberate Yourself From Negative Emotions and Transform Your Life” (Three River...s Press, 2011)

Empaths are highly sensitive, finely tuned instruments when it comes to emotions. They feel everything, sometimes to an extreme, and are less apt to intellectualize feelings. Intuition is the filter through which they experience the world. Empaths are naturally giving, spiritually attuned, and good listeners. If you want heart, empaths have got it. Through thick and thin, they’re there for you, world-class nurturers.

The trademark of empaths is that they know where you’re coming from. Some can do this without taking on people’s feelings. However, for better or worse, others, like myself and many of my patients, can become angst-sucking sponges. This often overrides the sublime capacity to absorb positive emotions and all that is beautiful. If empaths are around peace and love, their bodies assimilate these and flourish. Negativity, though, often feels assaultive, exhausting. Thus, they’re particularly easy marks for emotional vampires, whose fear or rage can ravage empaths. As a subconscious defense, they may gain weight as a buffer. When thin, they’re more vulnerable to negativity.Plus, an empath’s sensitivity can be overwhelming in romantic relationships; many stay single since they haven’t learned to negotiate their special cohabitation needs with a partner.

When empaths absorb the impact of stressful emotions, it can trigger panic attacks, depression, food, sex and drug binges, and a plethora of physical symptoms that defy traditional medical diagnosis from fatigue to agorophobia. Since I’m an empath, I want to help all my empath-patients cultivate this capacity and be comfortable with it.

Empathy doesn’t have to make you feel too much all the time. Now that I can center myself and refrain from shouldering civilization’s discontents, empathy continues to make me freer, igniting my compassion, vitality, and sense of the miraculous.

Quiz: Am I An Empath?

Ask yourself:
•Have I been labeled as “too emotional” or overly sensitive?
•If a friend is distraught, do I start feeling it too?
•Are my feelings easily hurt?
... •Am I emotionally drained by crowds, require time alone to revive?
•Do my nerves get frayed by noise, smells, or excessive talk?
•Do I prefer taking my own car places so that I can leave when I please?
•Do I overeat to cope with emotional stress?
•Am I afraid of becoming engulfed by intimate relationships?

If you answer “yes” to 1-3 of these questions, you’re at least part empath. Responding “yes” to more than 3 indicates that you’ve found your emotional type.

Recognizing that you’re an empath is the first step in taking charge of your emotions instead of constantly drowning in them. Staying on top of empathy will improve your self-care and relationships.

Types of Empaths

There are different types of empaths who employ different psychic empathic traits. These are the 10 levels of the empath:

Psychometry - the empathic ability ...to re...ceive energy, information and impressions from objects, photographs or places

Telepathy - the empathic ability to read people's thoughts

Mediumship - the empathic ability to feel the presence and energies of spirits

Physical Healing - the empathic ability to feel other people's physical symptoms in your own body (and often the ability to heal, transform or transmute them)

Emotional Healing - the empathic ability to feel another person's emotions

Animal Communication - the empathic ability to hear, feel and communicate with animals

Nature - the empathic ability to read, feel and communicate with nature and with plants

Geomancy - the empathic ability to read the energy of places and of the land - geomancers can feel the energies of the Earth, such as Ley lines. They can also get headaches, pain or anxiety before earthquakes or other disasters occur anywhere on the planet.

Precognition - the empathic ability to feel when something important is about to happen (often this can be a feeling of inexplicable dread or doom)

Claircognizance or Knowing - the empathic ability to feel what needs to be done in any given circumstance, often accompanied by a feeling of peace and calm, even in the midst of a crisis

Making a Dream Come True

I have always had a dream of being my own boss, owning my own business. At first, I wanted a restaurant, then a book store, then a thrift store, finally ended with wanting a Wiccan/Pagan shop. Why not? I am a witch after all, my every thought is always something to do with magick. Friends and family always come to me for advice on anything supernatural, and I truly enjoy helping them out with it. Magick, the supernatural, makes me happy. I am at home, at peace when I am working with it and helping other people.
I had always been drawn towards people who needed my help. I started to realize that this was my calling. Helping others with my gifts was what I was meant to do. I didn't always read tarot cards, but it was something that I was always interested in and drawn to as well. When I did start reading them, it came natural to me. Before, I would just use my empathy gifts to connect with people and read them, it would help get insight to their problems and helped me seek an answer for them. With some, I was even able to read into their mind, and help them get over the fears that they were even denying themselves.
Tarot card reading is the first step I have committed into making my dream come true. The dream of helping others has already happened and I continue to do so, but owning my own shop is also in that dream.

Magic Mirror Spell

Magic Mirror Spell from Everything Under The Moon

You will need 1 small, handheld mirror, 3 candles, rose oil, patchouli incense and a little privacy.

Select one color for the strongest effect, or mix and match to get a bit of each:

... Red if you are going for sex appeal

Silver if you want to be the center of attention and display star-quality charisma

Orange if you are going for general attractiveness and likeability.

On a night when the moon is full, find a secluded outdoor spot. Light your incense and your three candles. Disrobe and anoint the parts of your body you would like to change with the rose oil. For example, if you think your feet are too big, anoint the tops of each foot. If you are going for an all over make-over, then anoint your forehead, your breast bone, the center of your belly, each wrist and behind each knee. Pass the mirror through the smoke of the incense, then raise it over your head, reflective surface facing the moon.

Recite:

Wood and Wind, Ember and Mist
Grant your blessed child's wish
Sacred Mother charge this mirror
Let your light make beauty clearer
Wrap it in your gentle glow
So that tis all it ever shows.
Lower the mirror and gaze into it. Visualize the way you wish to look, and how you want others to see and react to you. Repeat the following:

As a blossom in your glade
Let my beauty never fade.
Now, use the mirror's reflective surface to shine the moonlight on the place(s) you would like to make more pleasing to the eye. When you are done, wrap the mirror in a dark cloth and keep it safe. If the mirror is ever broken, so also will be the spell. Snuff the candles, dress and let the incense burn out.

For an extra boost, like before a big date, business meeting or audition, annoint yourself again with rose oil and spend 10 minutes gazing into the mirror. While doing so, focus on the things you find attractive about yourself and the things you want others to see when they look at you.

Tarot Illuminati

So I have stumbled upon a new deck of tarot cards that will be coming out later this year, I believe the date was May 18. They are accepting pre-orders right now on Amazon. If you haven't looked at pictures of the deck yet, please do, I think they are amazing and I can not wait to get them myself.

My Tarot Corner

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the internet. My name is Esme WolfShadow, this is not my given name but my witch name. Most people do not feel comfortable giving out this name to people, but it is a name that i am very comfortable with and like to use. I have been a witch all my life, even when I didn't know I had gifts, I was still using them everyday in my life and I still continue to use them today. I'm an empath, which means I can feel other people's emotions as well as my own. A nice gift to have but also hard as well since sometimes I do not know if what I'm feeling is really my emotion or someone else's around me. I'm also a medium, since I am psychic and can also sense ghost and even feel the emotion that they have imprinted to the surrounding around them.  I'm a stay at home mom, who is working on creating my own business. My main passion is anything to do with magick and the witch world, paranormal, or tarot. I am proud of who I am, even if others don't accept it. I am me, that's all I am, and all I ever will be.
